FIRST LADY TEAMS UP WITH USA HOCKEY AND THE NHL
PSA Aimed at Getting More Kids to Play Hockey
First lady Michelle Obama has teamed up with USA Hockey and the National Hockey League to produce a public service announcement as part of her “Let’s Move!” initiative that encourages children to become and stay active by playing hockey.
The 30-second spot, which was shot in the White House, features the first lady detailing the many virtues and health benefits of playing hockey – including its ability to get the heart pumping, build lean muscle and teach teamwork – all while children are having fun. Scenes of boys and girls throughout the country are playing the game in all its forms and in various settings show the myriad ways hockey can be enjoyed.
Protein powder is a derivative of milk, taken from the cheese making process. When making cheese, the milk must be separated into its liquid and solid components. The solid component is called whey and is turned into cheese. The liquid whey is then purified, dried in special ovens and turned into whey protein powders. Whey protein powders are used in a variety of ways, but mostly, they can be used to supplement a person’s intake. Protein powder is a necessary nutrient we all need to build up our bodies.
Protein powder is a type of diet supplement that helps in muscle building and also acts as the weight gainer. There are a number protein powders available in the market but the best one is the whey protein powder. Whey protein powder can be used to make nutritional shakes and is available in a variety of flavors. It is digested quickly, absorbed into the bloodstream and then taken directly to the muscles. There are many different varieties of whey proteins of different levels of purity such as protein concentrates, isolates and hydrolysates.
Everyday as we go through our daily routine, our muscles end up having a lot of wear and tear, especially if you do a lot of strenuous activities. Our bodies need to keep up with these changes. Our body knows to use the protein we take in each day and turn it into the amino acids necessary to build up muscles. Our bodies compensate for the daily wear and tear done, which is why our muscles don’t get worn out after a few weeks.
Some people need to increase their protein intake for a variety of reasons. For some, it’s as simple as wanting to increase muscle mass and reduce fat. Professional athletes and bodybuilders, for example, want to shape their bodies and increase its capacity in lifting weights or performance. They do this by taking whey protein powders.
Many of these professionals train for hours a day, using up their muscles more the 50% of what normal people are used to. That means their bodies must also compensate and use up more protein to build and rebuild their muscles that are damaged. By increasing their protein intake, they can ensure that they have the necessary amount of amino acids to repair their muscles and prevent strains and injuries.
Other types of people can also use whey protein powders for other reasons. People who are sick due to wasting diseases, like AIDS, can also take such a powder to increase their muscle mass. Their bodies can use the extra protein to increase their strength and help to stay strong and fight the disease. People undergoing chemotherapy and cancer treatments also must keep their strength up.
When you go through something like chemotherapy, you lose your appetite or sometimes you throw up any nutrients you manage to ingest. Using whey protein is one way they can increase their strength and muscles to be able to withstand the treatments, which often leave them weak.
