Yearbook Sponsorship 2010/11 Season

Welcome to the 3rd edition of the CCHA Yearbook. 2010/2011 brings us new challenges, new coaches, a new team to add to our association and new faces. We're looking forward to another great season.

In the 2009/2010 season CCHA is fielding 5 teams: Mite/Squirt House development, Peewee (Head Coach Rich Brouwer), Bantam (Head Miles Bielec) and two Midget teams (Head Coach Stirling Wright). We held evaluations in June and will add more players in the fall in order to accomplish our goals. Every year CCHA hosts a week-long kick off camp in August with Guest Coach Al MacCormack. We value Coach MacCormack's knowledge and interest in our players and their ongoing development.

This season would not be possible without the contributions of our players, coaches, parents, board members, sponsors and volunteers. Without each of you, the CCHA would not be what it is today and we thank you all.

Fundraising Committee Goals for the 2010 – 2011 Season

1.       Yearbook fundraiser for individual players.

o   Fundraising continues through August 31st to ensure delivery of the yearbook to sponsors and visiting teams by October 1st  Revision: The advertising deadline is extended to September 30th.

o   See the Yearbook memo for more details

2.       Sponsorships from larger corporations to help offset organizational costs such as ice time.

o   Targeted sponsors will be approached by selected members of the Fundraising Committee to ensure we stay on message and seek the maximum sponsorship available.

o   Selected businesses include Carolina Hurricanes sponsors Eye Associates, BCBSNC, Harris Teeter, RBC Bank, Carolina Ale House, Honda, Progress Energy, Time Warner Cable, Moe’s Southwest Grill and Enterprise Rent A Car.

o   The Fundraising Committee appreciates individuals not approaching these sponsors for $125 and $250 ads when their potential is far greater.

3.       Organizational fundraisers which are specifically chosen to increase awareness of the CCHA travel hockey program in addition to fundraising.

o   Major fundraisers in discussion include either a golf tournament or a broom hockey tournament.

o   Minor fundraisers in discussion include concessions at Legion Stadium and other city/county events

4.       Since CCHA acquired its 501(c)3 designation, the Fundraising Committee is applying for grants.

o   We have identified grants which will help offset organizational costs.

o   We have identified grants which will go towards specific purposes such as organization, player development or ADM implementation.

o   Due to grant deadlines and funding, not all grants will benefit the 2010 – 2011 Clippers season.

o   CCHA will not be awarded every grant we apply for however we will seek every opportunity available.

CCHA’s Board of Directors voted to allow team fundraising. All fundraising efforts need to be reviewed by the Fundraising Committee to ensure the activities promote the CCHA and the Clippers and do not conflict with any existing fundraising. Funds raised shall be accounted for, allocated and distributed by the team. Funds may not be deposited in the CCHA organization bank account nor can bank accounts be opened in the name of CCHA or the Clippers. Revision: The Treasurer is looking into ways to maintain separate bank accounts or ways to designate money raised for a specific team purpose (e.g. second tournament). There are still several issues to be sorted out with regards to team fundraisers however the Board wanted to open this opportunity up to the teams, in particular for those players who wish to fundraise without the tax issues involved with the yearbook. As Fundraising Chairperson, it is my recommendation that those teams that wish to fundraise seek a volunteer to lead the effort. I will work with the team’s fundraising person to address questions.
